Our New School

Leaney Primary School is a controlled, co-educational school established in 1967. It  is situated on the outskirts of Ballymoney, a provincial market town in Northern Ireland. The school buildings are adjacent to popular residential areas of the town and a short distance from a secondary school. A large number of the school population live within walking distance and a small number of children travel by bus from the rural areas. The surrounding area of the school is demographically mixed and pupils attending come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.

The school enjoys contact with other schools in the local area and neighbouring towns for inter-school activities such as sporting events and the annual Police Service for Northern Ireland Community Quiz.

Pupils have enjoyed cultural visits to the Causeway School, Springhill, Ulster History Park, Garvagh Forest and historical cities such as London, Edinburgh, and York. Children have also enjoyed a visit to Paris. Topic work  includes visits to the local park, library, Whitepark Bay, Patterson's Spade Mill, Post Office, Fire Station and the town centre itself.

To foster an awareness of caring for others, support is given on an annual basis to the Blind Association, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and other recognised charities.
